VELO guides disadvantaged groups towards the job market in an ecological and circular manner, using the bike as a tool in this process.
Whenever I’m at VELO, I always have the feeling, however small, that the world is a better place with such an organization and with the commitment you experience there.
J.S. - Head of Department at a large financial institution
Offering opportunities to groups facing challenges in society so that they can also find entry into the job market. And we do this in an ecological and circular manner.
Do you have a question? Maybe you will find the answer below.
If not, please feel free to contact us.
You should report it to VELO (in our workshop on Hollestraat) as soon as possible. You can get another bike for the remaining rental period, if you pay a new deposit. If your original bike is found, you will get your original deposit back under certain conditions.
By showing proof of enrollment for the new academic year, you can rent at the student rate.
You can pay with cash, Bancontact, Payconiq, Visa, Mastercard or ecocheques. At our bike stations Rector De Somer and Gasthuisberg, cash payments are not accepted.
No. We do not refund the rental fee if you return the bike earlier than expected. However, if your bike shows no major damage, you will naturally get your deposit back.
You can have a spare key made at our workshop on Hollestraat for €7 or €15, depending on the type of key. Preferably, come by before 5 PM for this service.
You can physically extend your contract at our workshop on Hollestraat in Heverlee. You can also transfer the correct amount (please check this website to confirm the amount) to our account: BE82 0689 3514 2368 (VELO vzw; BIC code: GKCCBEBB). Always include the student’s name, the number of the bike, the length of the additional rental period, and your email address. We will then send you a new contract by email.

You can take it to any of our bicycle repair stations in Leuven and Heverlee, except for VELOPunt FD. The latter location is only for users of 2WD bikes.
You can use the DIY bicycle repair workshops for this. Look for more information on our page bicycle repair stations.
The minimum rental period for a student bike is one month. If you need a bike for a shorter period, please rent a bike for the short term at our bicycle repair station at the train station in Leuven.
If you have a bike you no longer need or use and want to dispose of, bring it to VELO on Hollestraat. We recycle and reuse as many parts as possible. We do not offer any money for old bikes.
On Hollestraat in Heverlee, we always have a selection of quality second-hand bikes for sale. Our bike stations in Aarschot and Diest also sell quality second-hand bikes. However, we advise students to rent rather than buy, as our rental contracts include a good lock, maintenance, and repairs.
Prices for purchasing a second-hand bike at VELO start at €150. The price of each second-hand bike depends on the type of bike and how it is equipped.
You can find a cheap second-hand bike (<€150) at Kringwinkel Vites (on Ijzerenmolenstraat). However, their selection of second-hand bikes is limited.
You can rent a student bike at VELO on Hollestraat.
The price varies depending on the rental period and the type of bike. You can find all the prices at the bottom of the page what we offer.
